Born in Seville and raised in Cordoba, Vicente Amigo won the first prize for guitar playing in the National Competition Cante de las Minas de La Unión, at the age of 21. In 1992 he participated as a member of the incredible array of guitar greats who gathered in Seville for the concert Leyendas de Guitarra (Guitar Legends): including Bob Dylan, Paco de Lucía and Keith Richards, among others. His outstanding works include the albums Poeta (1997), Ciudad de las ideas (2000), Un momento en el sonido (2005) and Paseo de Gracia, his latest work. He has collaborated with such fundamental figures in the world of flamenco as Manolo Sanlúcar, Camarón de la Isla (working on the legendary Soy Gitano), and José Mercé.
He has also worked with artists from other musical genres; pop, classical and MPB: Sting, Alejandro Sanz, Orkest Metrôpole, Milton Nacimiento, Wagner Tiso…
“Being with Vicente Amigo is a journey through a world of sound brimming with spontaneity, natural candor, harmony and beauty. The bond, the commitment that he shows to flamenco in all its aspects, is widely recognized.”
